Introducing horses to a variety of obstacles helps them develop self-assurance. As horses learn to navigate different challenges, they become more confident in their abilities and less prone to anxiety in unfamiliar situations.
Obstacle training necessitates clear communication and mutual trust. When a horse successfully negotiates an obstacle under the guidance of its rider, it reinforces the bond and trust between them. This trust is essential for safe and effective riding, both in competitive and recreational contexts.
Navigating obstacles requires a horse to use its body in new and challenging ways, which improves its overall agility and balance. This physical conditioning is beneficial for all types of horses, whether they are used for dressage, jumping, trail riding, or other disciplines.
Horses are intelligent creatures that thrive on mental challenges. Obstacle training provides necessary mental stimulation, keeping horses engaged and preventing boredom-related behavioural issues.
Obstacle courses introduce horses to varied experiences, making them more versatile and adaptable. This versatility is invaluable for horses that participate in different equestrian activities or encounter varied terrains and environments.
Will started his horsemanship journey at an early age encouraged by his mother, an accomplished horsewoman in her day. He went on to study horsemanship at Longreach Pastoral College under the mentorship of the late Ken May, a renowned Australian horseman, trainer and educator. Will has assisted countless families with all forms of horsemanship (in particular float training) and horse transport. He is known for his calm, kind and ‘keep it real’ approach to training.
Trish brings a lifetime of horse experience and continuous learning from some of the worlds best. She has been safely transporting horses in trucks, floats and goosenecks for over four decades. Trish works on the belief that our horses provide an amazing insight into how our own thoughts, behaviours and often limiting self-beliefs can affect not only our relationship with our horses but the performance of the partnership that is you & your horse.
